MP3 Micro SD Player

Overview

An MP3 player built around a hardware decoder and an on-board microSD card slot. Load MP3 files onto a FAT16/FAT32 SD card on a PC, plug it into the module, and play any file with simple text commands over any supported interface. All decoding happens on the module, so your host stays free.

Output is single mono channel; audio quality is reasonable for voice prompts, sound effects, and background music. Supports SD cards up to 32 GB.

Common uses: museum exhibits with audio narration, talking-toy projects, accessibility prompts, sound-effect playback for installations, and any project where prerecorded audio reads better than synthesized tones.

note

microSD card is not included — load files on a PC; the module cannot expose files for direct access.

Commands

Function	Description
SendCmd(c, a)	Send c command & a argument to mp3 module.
WResponse(t, c, a)	t timeout, c code, a argument. Wait for response.
Stop()	Stop playing.
SetVol(v)	Sets v volume. (Min 0, max 30)
IsBusy()	Returns 1 if busy.
Loop(r)	Sets r repeat.
Rst()	Reset mp3 module.
PlayFile(f, d)	Play file. f Files and d directories must be named in numerics.
DVer()	This driver version.

This sample runs in MicroBlocks on a any host board that's connected/tethered to this module, or a chain of modules. This module keeps its official DUELink firmware and module driver and responds to commands from the connected MicroBlocks-running host. New here? See the MicroBlocks page.

There are two ways to use it:

Open the full sample — the complete project (the module's library plus a ready-to-run example) opens directly on the MicroBlocks website.

Add just the libraries to your own project — copy the link, then in your MicroBlocks project click Add Library → Cloud and paste it. This loads this module's libraries into your project without replacing your current work.
